AD MEPSO informs the public that the procedure for awarding the contract to the most economically advantageous tenderer for the project of highest strategic interest, the construction of the 400 kV interconnection Bitola – Elbasan (Lot 1: TL from SS Bitola 2 via SS Ohrid to the Macedonian–Albanian border), has been successfully completed.
Thus, the company officially restarted the project that will provide the key energy connectivity between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania.
The international procurement procedure via the EBRD e-procurement system (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) opened on 25.04.2025. After a detailed evaluation of the submitted offers, the highest-ranked tenderer was awarded the contract: the international consortium led by DALEKOVOD d.d. from Croatia.
The total contract value is 19,696,200.85.
The entire procedure was carried out in accordance with the EBRD's strict procurement policies, ensuring transparency and objectivity.
This new contract award follows the strategic decision by management to terminate the previous contract, which had compromised and delayed the project. That procedure was carried out in strict accordance with the international FIDIC standards.
To protect the state's interest and ensure financial efficiency, AD MEPSO secured continuity of the investment. 51.2% of the required equipment has already been delivered by the previous contractor and is owned by MEPSO. The newly selected contractor will install this equipment, thereby preventing the company from incurring financial losses.
Upon signing the Contract, the works will commence, with an execution period of 900 days (30 months).
The implementation of this project will close the only remaining open link in our transmission system. This enables the completion of the regional Energy Corridor VIII and significantly improves voltage conditions in the southwestern part of the country.
