AD MEPSO – Skopje informs the professional public that it has successfully energized and placed the reconstructed 110 kV overhead transmission line No. 109, on the route SS Bitola 1 – SS Prilep 1, into trial operation.
The reconstruction was carried out along the existing route of the transmission line, whereby the existing 110 kV line with reinforced-concrete poles, constructed more than 50 years ago, was fully dismantled and replaced with a new line using steel lattice towers. The newly constructed transmission line is 33.5 km long and consists of 125 steel towers.
The project completely replaced and installed new conductor and insulation equipment, including phase conductors, earth (shield) wire, insulators, and fittings. This increased transmission capacity and improved electrical and mechanical characteristics over the previous condition. Greater transmission capacity now enhances the regional network's reliability, stability, and operational flexibility.
The project was implemented under Lot 1 – “Reconstruction of the 110 kV Transmission Line SS Bitola 1 – SS Prilep 1” - and was financed through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The project’s civil, electromechanical, and power engineering works were carried out between 2023 and 2025. A consortium led by JV CV Dalekovod – Zagreb performed the work in line with contract and technical standards. Upon completion, all technical tests and inspections were conducted. The line was then energized and placed into trial operation.
By implementing this project, AD MEPSO continues to systematically modernize and strengthen the transmission infrastructure, aiming to increase the security of electricity supply and enhance the stability and capacity of the transmission network.
