After almost five decades, the ownership issue of one of the key points of the Macedonian transmission network was resolved. SS 400/110 kV Dubrovo, built in 1977, is finally owned by AD MEPSO and is state-owned.
Regulating the ownership status of SS Dubrovo is a significant step for AD MEPSO because it creates a clear legal basis for planning and implementing future investments in the transmission network, reconstruction, maintenance, and modernization of the plant and the equipment inside it, as well as the obligation to advance the infrastructure and to create a secure and modern power system for the state and industry needs.
SS Dubrovo is one of the key 400 kV nodes in North Macedonia's power system. The country's interconnection with Greece runs through this substation, while SS Stip connects with Bulgaria. SS Dubrovo is connected to SS Bitola 2 and SS Skopje 4 at the 400 kV level, while the 110 kV level plays an important role for the electricity supply of consumers and the connection of industrial plants in the region.
Several significant investments in equipment advancement are underway. The reconstruction of the command building is part of the project, including the reconstruction of three 400/110 kV substations and five 110 kV substations across the country, all of them built in the 70s of the last century, intending to improve energy efficiency and modernize the facilities, creating better working conditions for the employees and free access for individuals with disabilities.
The solution to this property-legal issue resulted from the coordinated work of AD MEPSO, the Ministry of Energy, and competent authorities, within the framework of the activities system regulation of the property-legal status of electric power facilities.
AD MEPSO continues to regulate the property-legal status of other facilities in the power system to create conditions for new investments and further increase the power system's security, reliability, and stability
