Today, near the village of Mamutchevo, started the construction works for the 110 kV transmission line that connects the substations in Veles and Ovche Pole by laying foundations. This is a capital and infrastructure project for the erection of a transmission line on the existing line route, which has existed since 1960.

Amidst the energy crisis, which creates large-scale problems on every level of social living, AD MEPSO continues to diligently work and carry out the planned investments in the energy infrastructure and to technically organize and improve the transmission network.
“This is a necessary infrastructure that will not only provide stability and reliability in the energy supply for the citizens and economy from this region, but it will be an opportunity to connect new consumers to the transmission network and integration of new renewable energy sources”, said the Director-general of AD MEPSO, Orhan Murtezani.

In the Veles and Sveti Nikole region, we expect the construction of a considerable number of solar and wind farms. There is an ongoing construction of a 25 MW photovoltaic power plant connected to SS Ovche Pole near the village of Amzabegovo. Moreover, there is an announcement about a new 80 MW PVPP near Erdjelija village.
Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski spoke about the importance of a modernized transmission network relating to the growing trend for the construction of new RES plants.

“Additionally and equally important is the fact that our aim as a country is construction of new capacities for the production of electric power from renewable energy sources, which intensified in the last period due to the energy crisis, while for transmission of that electricity, we need a stable system that we provide by building this transmission line”, said Kovachevski.

The length of the transmission line SS Veles – SS Ovche Pole is 20,94 km with 83 towers, out of which 56 concrete and three steel-lattice towers will be completely replaced, as well as the old equipment (conductor, protection wire, insulators, et cetera.).
The investment fund is EUR 2.3 million, divided between AD MEPSO and EBRD loan. The Contractor is Consortium Dalekovod Zagreb – ELNOS BL, while Stolb Bitola will supervise the construction.
