By symbolically turning on the switch, General Director of AD MEPSO, Orhan Murtezani and the Minister of Transport and Communications, Blagoj Bochvarski have marked the start of the operation of the new transmission line, which connects Substations Stip and Ovche Pole. After a year filled with different challenges, on the existing route of the 110 kV transmission line, constructed 62 years ago, a new energy transmission object is constructed. Fifty-five (55) reinforced concrete towers have been replaced with steel-lattice towers and the old equipment has been entirely replaced with new conductors, protective wire and insulators.

We continue our dedicated work on realizing the promised projects and investments in the energy infrastructure, because a new and modern transmission network means higher capacity and reliability of the network in the Southeast region of the country, means investing in a better living standard and economy development, stated on this occasion the General Director of AD MEPSO, Orhan Murtezani.

Highlighting the importance of such projects in creating a favourable ambient for the investors, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Blagoj Bochvarski stated:

This type of investments in the transmission network mean fulfilling the strategic goals for transition of the electrical energy production from coal to renewable sources of energy. WPP “Bogoslovec” will be connected to this exact transmission line with installed capacity of 36 MW. This is another example on how, in the middle of energy, health and world crisis, by improving the transmission infrastructure, we improve the business conditions in the country.

The investment for the construction of this capital infrastructural project amounts to 1, 41 million euros. AD MEPSO invested its own funds and the project is financed by the EBRD as well. The Contractor of construction works for the transmission line is the Joint Venture Kodar Energomontaža and Elektroistok Izgradnja from R. of Serbia, and the Supervisor is the local company “Столб” from Bitola.

This transmission line is part of the revitalization project of the transmission network of AD MEPSO, which includes reconstruction / construction of the total of six 110 kV transmission lines, two of which are completely finished and put into operation, and the others are in different phases of reconstruction. With this investment cycle, over 130 km of transmission lines will be constructed and over 15,7 million euros will be invested, part of the EBRD credit line and part of AD MEPSO funds.
