After three months of work at the site, part of the project for revitalization and modernization of the equipment in substation Skopje 4 was completed. The high-voltage equipment on the 400 kV transmission line bay, which heads towards substation Skopje 4, was replaced. There were installed new circuit breakers, line post insulators, instrument transformers, and secondary equipment units that represent the most up-to-date equipment for remote control SCADA as well as a new generation of numerical relays. The activities included dismantling the outdated equipment supports, building new foundations, and installation new steel supports for the equipment.
This substation supplies consumers from the region of Skopje, including households and companies, the industrial zone Bunardjik, the airport… The realization of this project enabled strengthened security of supply towards the distributive network in the Skopje consuming area, fewer outages, and reduced expenses for maintenance.
This Project is funded by EBRD with 4,9 million euros. Contractor is the Croatian company Koncar –KET, while Subcontractors are Macedonian companies. The complete rehabilitation of SS Skopje 4 is expected to be finished by the end of the current year.
