Today and tomorrow, JSC MEPSO is hosting the strategic seminar and the 109th meeting of the Committee for the Development of European Power Systems, held under the auspices of ENTSO-E (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity). For these two days, Skopje is the hub of strategic dialogues on the future of electricity grids, innovations, and infrastructure planning, where leading European energy experts define the future directions for the development of the electricity network.
These events are taking place at a pivotal moment for Europe’s energy transition – during the revision of the TEN-E regulation and the development of the so-called “Grids Package.” The focus of high-level technical and strategic discussions includes progress on TYNDP 2026, analyses related to supply security (ERAA), and the identification of system needs and new investments.
The aim is to jointly advance the European energy vision through knowledge exchange, policy coordination, and synchronized planning toward a more sustainable, flexible, and integrated electricity system.
We are gathered here not only as professionals from across Europe but also as dedicated partners in shaping the future of energy infrastructure. In an increasingly complex and interconnected electricity system, the importance of coordinated planning of the European grid cannot be overstated. The transition to a sustainable, reliable, and flexible energy system requires a common vision—and, more importantly, collective action. The way we plan our transmission networks today will determine how effectively we address tomorrow’s challenges, said Burim Latifi, General Director of JSC MEPSO, at the opening of the meeting.
The System Development Committee (SDC) plays a key role in aligning national and regional energy transmission plans into a coherent, pan-European vision—aiming to create a smart, flexible grid ready for future challenges and the large-scale integration of renewable energy.
