Dear Madam and Sirs,

We are proud of the great success we achieved as a team in 2008. The summary of results with no false modesty, demonstrate the most successful year among the years of AD MEPSO existence. As electricity power system operators we have ensured reliable system operation and electricity transmission to our clients. We have arranged and conducted successful auctions in selling of night electricity surpluses for the first time in the history of the electric power system. Thus, we have improved the system rationality and efficiency of generating capacities.

We have arranged and conducted auctions for allocation of cross-border transmission capacity in a public and transparent manner with equal treatment to all registered electricity market traders in the country. The results are evident and the clients satisfied. In 2008 we, as operators, made the biggest high voltage power investment operational, the newly standardized interconnection at 400 kV OHTL interconnection with the Republic of Bulgaria between Stip and Crvena Mogila. The corridor 8 became a reality in the part of the electric power interconnection between Macedonia and Bulgaria. MEPSO opened a new page in improving the bilateral relations in the region and strengthening the economic ties between the two neighbouring countries. Our top priority is the investments and improvement in high voltage grid. In 2008 the second power transformer 400/110 SS Skopje 5 was installed, a substation of vital importance to Skopje. A new transmission line bay 400/110 kV in SS Dubrovo was constructed also, the most important energy junction in our high voltage grid.

Devoted to operations and sustained in the intentions now we are proud of the results as we improved the quality of service that AD MEPSO offers - electricity transmission to any client and customer including reliability in power system operation. Our sole priority is the public interest.

These results are a big challenge, and also our provocation for starting in the current year with the 400 kV interconnection between Macedonia and Serbia, from Stip to Nis. We are about completing this project in parallel and starting into operation the most modern substation in the country being under construction in Stip, which has been at the same time the biggest investment in the high voltage grid in that region over the last 30 year.
