- The electricity transmission system operator of Macedonia has received among the others and the license for organization and management of the electricity market and hereby has the following tasks:
- electricity market organization;
- establishment, organization and control of trading with power, electricity and system services including the cross border trading;
- short term forecasts (weekly and hourly) of electricity demands;
- setting off procedure of agreed and realized transactions based on metering done by the power system operator;
- monitoring the states and events in the electricity market with the aim of preventing the uncompetitive behavior;
- mechanism of requesting and getting information from other performers of activities related to development of competitive behaviors in the market;
The division of organizing and management of electricity market or EMO is presently equipped with four (4) employees such as a head of division and three (3) engineers for market operations;
In 2008 the work of the division was mostly focused on as follows:
- establishment of mutual cooperation between electricity traders and the operator of electricity market in terms of delivering copies of purchasing agreements excluding commercial details from traders to the Electricity Market Operator including defining of rules and procedures for meeting the earlier stated legal obligation of traders;
- signing of agreements with eligible consumers for the sake of balancing weekly deviations and implementation of obligations in compliance with these agreements:
- the division’s main goal of this year is the preparation of the electricity market rules that need to manage the market operation in the Republic of Macedonia;
- Signing of agreements for deviations of physical nominations with electricity traders.
- Collection of information for the needs of electricity import to ELEM, EVN Macedonia and to eligible consumers (monthly and weekly), to the operator of the electric power system regarding calculation of available transmission capacity and own needs of planning and performing of all current activities.
